By the way, does anybody know why there wasn't serious talks about bringing Hilary Swank in a regular role or just a cameo? She isn't interested? The author's don't know how to use her character? They don't consider the fourth movie canon?
We probably won't really know until the producers feel ready to talk about it, but there could still be a cameo in the works that is kept secret. They've done a fairly good job of keeping them secret so far. And it would be weird to not consider the 4th movie as canon considering they've said that anything in the Miyagiverse is canon, ie anything that Miyagi himself has appeared in. The 4th movie added a nice bit character building for Miyagi that often gets overlooked, namely the funeral for his fallen comrades.

While I'm not too surprised that a certain character has returned I'm still extremely excited for this. They have mentioned it but it might be a card they are keeping up their sleeve for the final season.

Wow, that looks epic! I fell behind on my binge watch of the show and didn't watch Season 4 yet, so I'm going to finish that up before this next season starts. I love how they have incorporated nearly everyone from the OT Karate Kid films into the narrative while also introducing such a large and varied ensemble cast of new characters. It's completely over-the-top and ridiculous but embraces that and runs with it at full speed and it's fun as hell as a result. Looking forward to it.
COBRA KAI is a show that's better than it actually should be. Credit goes to the writers and actors. And I love the 80s music used, especially the rock.
Probably money. And Swank may not be interested in a role in which she's going to be asked to do karate. Plus, the role of Julie may not actually mean very much to her. She was never a part of the mainline films and the hype there. Also, Netflix canceled her show, so she may not be interested in doing them a solid. And she's currently in Alaska filming some new show for ABC. So there's lots of reasons why Julie may not ever happen.
And honestly, I'm fine with it at this point. Because Julie should have had a relationship with Sam. Like a cool Aunt kind of thing. Which means Sam should have reached out to her like two seasons ago. The fact that no one has mentioned Julie seems to suggest they have no relationship with her. So it would actually be super weird if she just popped up now.
It was her first major role, and I'd assume she would be looking at it fondly in thanks to making her a household name, making it one of the most important roles in her career. You don't just forget that kind of thing.
They'd kept the Allie thing under wraps pretty well. I'm still holding out hope that they've done the same for Swank, even if it's just a cameo.

Watched the first few episodes. They bumped one actor down to recurring and bumped another up to lead, and they're both barely in it.
Also, there are still some surprises left that the promotional department didn't spoil.
Well they are certainly ramping up the action with Silver. I'm not sure I like what they are doing with Chozen. He's a bit too buffoonish for my tastes. But I guess Johnny can't get the laughs.

The ending was quite the nailbiter and seemed pretty definitive. And then that happened!

Finished the season in two sittings. Not as strong as previous seasons, as I said with season 4, but still enjoyable. Seems to be a stronger focus on the adult characters. Unless they plan on bringing back any other major characters then I feel one more season is enough for this show.

It was really good but could have been better - an 8 from me.
I liked the focus on the adults better than just the kids, the stakes were higher and i loved seeing the toll it takes on Daniel - wish Mr. Miyagi/Pat Morita was still around to help him but Daniel's friends and family did that well too.

I feel there was much more fighting in this season but i can't be sure, every episode had at least 1-2 fights in it and i believe that was much more than in previous seasons.

Also i really hope that the sometimes cringey scenes and one liners were put there with full intent to be cringey - if it was with intent well done, i sometimes love to roll my eyes

I agree though that season 6 should be the last, it wouldn't make sense to introduce a left villain with no connection to the movies. Settle everything once and for all in the 6th season and call it a day, have everybody get a happy end and ride off into the sunset ( in LaRusso cars of course )
Kreese would obviously come back once more. But I am curious where they go next season, since Cobra Kai seems utterly finished.
Every single member abandoned the dojo now.
Unless Johnny decides to take it over . But at this point the name seems utterly poisoned.
Maybe the International tournament organizers would make it a condition for Miyago Do to be admitted that Cobra Kai joins, too? Then Johnny would have to…
